The Woman Behind Everything I Do

The Woman Behind Everything I Do

Tomorrow, Killy and I celebrate our 43rd Wedding Anniversary.

Killy is not just my wife. She is my co-pilot in life, my partner in ministry and my editor when I get carried away with a sermon illustration. She has that rare combination of grace and grit. Grace to endure our endless travel, my endless talking, and my inability to find things that are directly in front of me. And grit to get things done, love deeply, and never let me get away with nonsense even when I try to spiritualise it!

Killy has been my anchor, my compass and my behind-the-scenes powerhouse. The quiet encourager. The voice of reason when my ideas don’t make sense. She’s prayed with me, cried with me, laughed at me (and sometimes with me), and loved me through all seasons.

And yes, 43 years is long enough to know that love is not just candlelit dinners and surprise getaways. It’s laundry, logistics, laughter, and loyalty. It’s sacrificial, steady, sometimes silly, but always sacred.

So here’s to you, Killy. The saint who said ‘yes’ and kept saying ‘yes’ even on the days I was more annoying. Thank you for 43 remarkable years of marriage, ministry, and miracle moments.

I love you more than words and you know I’ve got a lot of words!

As we celebrate this anniversary, I'm reminded that one of God's greatest gifts is the gift of a faithful companion to share life's joys, challenges, and calling. For that, I am deeply grateful.

Happy Anniversary, my dearest Killy.

Grace and peace,

J.John
